Tonight is the full Hunter’s Moon, the first full moon of Fall. It’s also known as the Blood Moon and the Dying Moon. I’m craving sausages, fatty chicken thighs and squashes roasted in butter. Purple potatoes dredged in gravy. Risotto with slices of mushroom and handfuls of Parmesan. It’s the time to harvest, to fatten up, before the season of hibernation.
But this moon is also known as the Travel Moon, a time of transition and shifting, literally and metaphorically. And tomorrow morning, I am loading up a U-Haul with all of my earthly belongings and physically moving into a new (but temporary) home with my boyfriend. One cycle dies and another begins. Trust me – this move was not planned around the lunar cycles, but it’s funny how things line up sometimes, isn’t it?
To celebrate the season, I’ve made you a playlist chock full of moody electronic and synth-pop. A good third of the music on here is from the label Morr Music who have signed many (if not most) of my all-time favorite Icelandic artists, including Múm, Sóley, Sin Fang, and FM Belfast. New tracks from Múm and Sin Fang made the cut for this playlist. Other Icelandic artists here include Samaris, Aloa Input, Hjaltalín, and Amiina.
