D.C. Food Swap flyer, drawn by Jess Schreibstein
The cold days have moved in, settling into the gaps beneath the windows and the tiled kitchen floor that now feels like ice beneath bare feet. I bake to warm my hands and leave the oven door open afterward. My canning, preserving, squirreling away are all but done for the year, jars stocked up on shelves and in cardboard boxes for gifts and nourishment throughout the coming winter.
But before the trees are bare and full harvest is upon us, join us for our next D.C. Food Swap gathering on November 17 at Canvas in Dupont Circle. It’s our last food swap of 2013 and spots are limited, so don’t wait to sign up!
Don’t live in D.C.? Or want to start up your own food swap in your neighborhood? Here are some useful links to get you started. And check out the photos below from our last swap in September at Old City Farm & Guild.
Useful Links!
— How to start a food swap, from an earlier blog post of mine;
— Camille’s post about starting up her own local swap is a must-read, as are her abundant recipes that are perfect swap-material;
— Emily started up the L.A. Food Swap and the Food Swap Network – the lady knows her stuff. Read her post at The Kitchn; and
— The Food Swap Network is an indispensable resource for the how and what of swapping for both organizers and attendees.
That sounds so exciting! I would love to get something like that started around here!
Your blog let me know food swaps existed and now I love going to the one here in Atlanta. Thanks! Also, I nominated you for a Versatile Blogger Award.
